I’m selling my 1974 VW 181 Thing located in San Diego, CA.

Car runs and drives great and has been completely inspected by a reputable local shop, Trinidad Motors. Garaged while in my ownership and comes with car cover. Very clean inside and out. Paint is in very good condition. Comes with all four side curtains and soft top. Good floor pans. It drives peppy and very strong due to a water cooled, fuel injected engine conversion. It has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine thanks to a 2014 VW Jetta donor vehicle with 63K miles. Reliable and great gas mileage. The engine boasts 115+ horsepower versus the original 46 hp stock motor. It’s mated to the original 4 speed transmission with upgraded heavy duty clutch assembly. Disc brakes front and rear. Very fun and a real thrill to drive! Full Interior roll cage, bucket seats and bench rear seat. Premium stereo system. Lift achieved in rear via Fox Coil-over shocks and cut turned Class 11 front beam with Fox shocks. Very nicely done conversion built for Baja, the inland desserts of SoCal. A real head-turner at the beach or in the city. Newer tires with 95%+ tread. Rear fenders were professionally widened to accommodate larger tires. Custom bumpers front and rear. Custom tail, headlights and offroad lights. Although not completely original, it’s a very unique and one of a kind Thing! I hate to sell it, but I have to make way for a new vehicle that better suits my commuter needs. It has a clean title in hand and is currently registered.
